What Is A FOB Shipping Point?

A fob shipping point is a location designated by a company from which goods are shipped. This point is typically the location of the company’s warehouses or factories. The term “fob” stands for “free on board,” meaning that the buyer is responsible for paying the shipping costs associated with the purchase. This type of arrangement is often used when the buyer and seller are located in different states or countries.

How Does FOB Shipping Point Affect My Brand?

When a brand that sells products uses a FOB shipping point, it means that the buyer takes responsibility for the goods once they leave the seller’s premises. This can affect a brand in a few ways. For example, if you’re selling products that are perishable or time-sensitive, you’ll want to make sure that your shipping process is as efficient as possible to avoid any negative impact on your brand. On the other hand, if you’re selling luxury goods, you may want to emphasize the “white glove” service that comes with your brand by including shipping and handling in the price of your product. Follow these steps if you are using a FOB Shipping Point for your ecommerce:

  1. Make sure that your products are well-packaged and protected so that they don’t get damaged during shipping.
  2. Choose a reliable shipping method so that the products arrive at their destination on time.

If your FOB Shipping Procedures are not well-thought-out, things may go wrong, and it can reflect poorly on the company’s brand. You don’t want that to happen, so make sure your systems and procedures are built correctly, so you can see the success you desire.
