What Is An Anchor Store?

An anchor store is the biggest store in a mall or outlet. It is known as an anchor store because it helps to anchor that shopping location as it attracts customers and hold people’s attention for a long time. Popular Anchor stores in the United States are well-known retailer chains like Macy’s, JCPenney, and Nordstrom.

Anchor Store Effects On Small Businesses

A shopping center usually has two anchor stores within it, and each of those stores are normally located at either ends of the shopping center. Since small businesses are located in between the anchor stores, they benefit from this layout as they are able to convert through traffic into sales.

When looking for a brick and mortar store for your business, you should consider a location that has a popular anchor store. This will give your business more visibility and potential customers-potentially growing your brand by just getting a prime location.
